Tides for the Kenai City Pier located in the town of Kenai Alaska between
the mouth of the Kenai River and the Warren Ames Bridge.
The tide tables on this site cover the area opened to dip netting for
reds, (Sockeye Salmon) on the lower river.
Take Care of Your Fish
Salmon kept in too warm of a temperature, say, 42 degrees, instead of
32 degrees if kept on ice, will decreases a fish's shelf life by five
days. Thus today's most important lesson: If you're not eating fish on
the day you catch it, keep it on ice or in the fridge.

Enforcement Stepped Up in Kenai
For 2009. Fishermen be warned, Kenai law enforcement
has announced that it is stepping up the number of patrol officers looking
for violations along the roads and on the river. Sergeant Scott McBride
of the Kenai Police Department said speeding is always an issue during
the warmer months. In fact, he says the number of speeding tickets being
written has increased dramatically. He also said the Kenai Police Department
would be increasing its patrols throughout the busy summers tourist season.
Three Kenai Police Officers will be returning from the academy at Sitka
by the summer months. Additionally, seasonal enforcement officers are
also hired to enforce the city regulations on the beaches around Kenai
especially during the dipnet season.
Each year, massive numbers of salmon return to the Kenai River during
May through October. But during the month of July, it's the return of
the Red Salmon that seems to bring the largest number of locals to the
mouth of the river, to the beaches, boat launches, RV parks, and gas
stations where they purchase ice for the coolers, beer for the belly
and fuel for the car, (if there is any room left on the credit cards).
Yes sir, it's this period of the year that’s marked by those same
activities, conditions, and events that signals our manly little brains
to abstain from all acts of intelligence, thoughtfulness or prudence
and to just act upon pure animal instincts. It's finally summer again,
time for fishing and isn't that what we all live here for?
NOTE: BENEFITS OF WILD ALASKA SALMON IN YOUR DIET.
The benefits associated with eating wild Alaskan salmon just keeps on
mounding up as more research is completed into how to combat many of
today's leading life threatening problems. Recently, I personally was
enlightened into all this information after suffering from congestive
heart failure. I have had to completely rethink many of the daily routines
that have been a part of my life for so long now. My studies included
information from the American Heart Association, American Medical Association,
The Mayo Clinic, Etna Insurance Corp., and the literature and conversations
with everyone at LifeMasters. From this information one constant rang
true, eating more wild Alaskan salmon was something I needed to start
incorporating into our families diets along with reducing salt and
getting more exercise all year through. Below is a summation of the
continuously reiterated points from all avenues of Heart Care I have
studied to date that relate to the salmon of the Kenai River and why
we all need to eat more of this excellent food source.
Adults and children can safely eat the Wild Alaska Salmon caught
in our pristine waters by both comercial and sport fishermen each year.
Wild Alaska Salmon contain low to no contaminant levels.
Wild Alaska Salmon are high in heart-healthy omega-3s.
The oils found in Alaska's salmon have been found to lower many of
the problems that cause high blood pressure due to cardiovascular disease.
The omega-3s have been proven specifically to help reduce high cholesterol.
Eating fish that contains Omega-3 reduces the risk of dangerous blood
clotting.
The main sources of chinook, King Salmon, is from the waters of Alaska
for wild salmon and Western Canada and New Zealand for farmed salmon.
So read the tides and get out there and fill these freezers. Just tell
your wife that your doing it for her heart.
The Journal of the American Medical Association reports that Omega-3
fatty acids in such fish as salmon and albacore tuna reduce a woman's
risk of heart disease by one-third.
And just to ballence things out and so you know that eating salmon is
also good for us guys too, The New England Journal of Medicine reports
a decline of about 80 percent in heart disease for men from the Omega-3s
in fish.
